Director of Bands
Mr. Alex Singletary grew up in Melbourne, Florida. With both his parents as Band Directors, Alex grew up going to band rehearsals twice a week. Not knowing it then, this has a profound effect on him! Alex moved to Tallahassee in High School, meeting his wife, Piper, in the Leon HS Band. Piper and Alex are both proud Florida State University College of Music Alumni, attending 2016-20. FSU was an amazing place to grow as a musician, studying with Patrick Dunnigan, Alexander Jimenez, Dunwoody Mirvil, Richard Clary, and many more outstanding faculty and musicians.
Alex’s first job was at Auburndale HS in Auburndale, Florida. His first year teaching was during the COVID-19 pandemic, teaching in person, hybrid and online classes. Auburndale had a small, but dedicated group of students and a band program to be proud of. Alex is currently the Director of Bands at Gulf Breeze High School, bringing The SoundWave Band Program to new heights. Programming exemplary music and teaching talented and passionate students, the SoundWave is one of the jewels of the Emerald Coast and one of the premier bands in the State of Florida. Under his baton, the SoundWave will perform at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York City in April of 2025.
